About Me.
I moved to Buffalo for graduate school at UB. Here I met my partner, Timm, a veterinarian at the Summer Street Cat Clinic. We both liked Buffalo so much we decided to stay. I completed a PhD in English in 2003, just before my son was born, and held two positions at local colleges before coming to Nichols. I love Nichols and I hope you have a great experience here, too.
About My Pets
This is the newest member of my family, Gertrude Louise aka "Gertie Lou." We adopted her from the SPCA in June. She was skinny! and had a terrible respiratory infection, but after a bath, good meals, and some loving, she's doing well. How cute is she?!
We adopted Miss Jane Eyre and Edwina Fairfax Rochester (Janie and Eddie) early in 2010. The first photo is when they were just babies. Last summer we had photographer Amy Doyle photograph the pets who weren't afraid of her! Eddie loved this--Jane, not so much.
This is Mr. Felix B. Rabbit. He's five and will eat just about anything--hay, treats, shoes, pillows, Batman toys, Storm Troopers... Isn't he beautiful? He's a fantastic pet, in spite of his destructive nature. He comes when he's called and loves to cuddle. (These photos were also taken by Amy Doyle.)
This is Jezebel. She lived behind a bar in a bayou in Louisiana until Timm took her away from all that and moved to Buffalo. Jezebel remains a fraidy cat so we don't have lovely portraits of her. She's still beautiful and still a great cat.
And this, finally, is Sylvia. She was born on my porch in Providence, RI in 1991. I named her after Sylvia Plath, a poet with whom I was entirely enthralled at the time. She was nearly 19 when she passed away. I miss her desperately, and her photo remains here to honor her memory. She was some cat.
